First thing in the morning-streamers on the door, of course!
We had breakfast, opened a present or two, played with bubbles, and then had a little pool party with friends.
Nicholas needed a little help understanding how to open his presents, but he had no problem at all figuring out how to play with them!
Time for birthday cake.I was so excited to see him dig in and get messy.
Unfortunately, he wouldn't even touch it! He spent a minute or two digging through it with a spoon, but if it got on his hands he simply cried and wanted to get out of his high chair. And he didn't eat any of it.Ah well, maybe next year.
It was a good day for my little buddy!

That's so funny! That's exactly how Kyle was, no cake on the fingers! He didn't care about opening presents either, but sure did love what was inside! By the way in the pic. with you in the background, you look gorgeous! You are SO tiny! Seriously, there's no way you were ever pregnant, gorgeous!

What a great first birthday :). Lily's first birthday was the first time she had ever eaten cake, and so she was hopped up on sugar and was walking in circles during her party - so maybe not eating the cake was a good thing :).

Babies are definitely born with distinct personalities aren't they? I can't believe how fast a year has flown. I remember reading the post about his birth and now I am reading about his first birthday. Crazy. I also loved the post showing how he had changed. That took a lot of insight on your part to always take a picture on the same blanket. I loved it!
