A few things here and there

It's been a wonderful two weeks here in Logan: good weather, time with family, and not a whole lot to do. Well, there was one busy day when we found out that Kent is a victim of SSN fraud and three other people are using his number, so we had to drive down to Ogden to talk to the SS office. We also got to file a police report, and Kent was excited about that. :D But I think we got it all worked out okay. We picked an apartment for us to live in while we are in San Antonio, also, and it's on the same block as USAA, where Kent will be working. It's going to be pretty neat living somewhere completely new, just the two of us. I'm excited. And we are also excited for the vacation we're leaving for in 73 hours! It's finally time to start packing the bags!!
Some pictures:
Our "Sleepover" with the kids. We set up the tent inside and played games and read stories. The boys were very excited about it, and I finally got to ease my guilt because I'd been promising them we could do a sleepover ever since Kent and I got married.
And, my new haircut! I got it lightened way more than before, and
I also went even shorter. It's my "happy summer hair."

Hogle Zoo

Here's some pictures from our visit to Hogle Zoo in Salt Lake. I know I promised to put them up about five days ago, but it has been a very nice, lazy week, and I just didn't do it. :D

Kent, Sarah, Nathan, and Jonah in the Prairie Dog exhibit.

And these are portraits of me and Kent that my littlest brother, Nathan, took while he was goofing around with my camera. We've sure had fun with the little boys while we've been here. They LOVE playing with Kent. Tomorrow night we're setting up the tent and having a "sleepover" with them.

Rest

The semester is over. We left Rexburg late at night on Thursday after finishing our finals and packing, and now we're here in Logan staying with my family until the 24th. It is lovely to have some "nothing" time. Nothing pressing to do, nothing stressful. Ah. The weather is lovely; it's been in the 50's and 60's since we got here. We went down to Hogle Zoo in Salt Lake on Friday, and yesterday we had a bonfire and picnic in the backyard with some cousins. We also took my brother Jonah to see Horton Hears a Who for his 9th birthday. Kent and I browsed through the mall yesterday and I bought a cute pair of earrings to wear in three weeks when I can take these studs out. It has been a wonderful weekend so far, and it is amazingly restful to be done with school. We've had lots of fun. I've got pictures, and I'll post them up, but I think first I'm going to go take a quiet Sunday nap.

Four Things

I've been tagged by Libby!

Four jobs that I've had:
  1. An office assistant/groundskeeper/housekeeping staff/kitchen assistant at the Anniversary Inn Bed and Breakfast. I just did whatever they told me to do next.
  2. Piano Teacher
  3. Volunteer at the North Logan library
  4. Reading tutor for International students

Four movies I could watch over and over again:

  1. Pride and Prejudice (the newer one with Keira Knightly)
  2. August Rush
  3. White Christmas (a family tradition, so I actually do watch it over and over again)
  4. Really any movie that makes me go "Ahhhh" at the end and gives me that warm, fuzzy feeling. (i.e. I'm never watching Signs again)

Four places I've lived:

  1. Denver, CO
  2. Farmington, UT
  3. Pacific Palisades, Los Angeles, CA
  4. Rexburg

Four TV shows I like:

  1. What Not to Wear
  2. Extreme Home Makeover
  3. Lost (a love/hate relationship, actually)
  4. John and Kate plus 8 (their kids are adorable and I'm so grateful I don't have them!)

Four people that email me regularly:

  1. My teachers/school emails
  2. My Grandpa Murray
  3. Kraft Kitchens (good recipes!)
  4. Myself (sounds lame, but I always email the papers and stuff I work on while I'm using the computer while supervising at work so I can finish working on them at home)

Four favorite foods:

  1. Mashed potatoes
  2. Coconut Pudding ice cream
  3. Chicken and Broccoli casserole
  4. My dad's grilled steaks

Four (five) places I'd rather be:

  1. Hawaii
  2. Tony Grove (our favorite camping place)
  3. California/LA
  4. France (I'm so excited!)
  5. and...Hawaii again. (I need some sunshine! It's still snowing and only in the 30's in Rexburg!)

Zzzzzzz....

That is what you sleep on if you did this yesterday:

And this is the light fixture that we broke as we lifted the mattress off the bed. Hrm. Guess we're going to have to replace that before we leave.

Here's the table we bought from Kent's Home Teaching companion. Our little folding table served us so well, I'm kind of sad to move on, but this new table is beautiful, and we got a great deal on it.
And this is what I resorted to after one night of sleeping on the floor. (Notice how I had three pillows and Kent only had one pillow in the picture above...I'm not so good at sleeping on the floor.) I really wanted to prove to myself that I could sleep on the floor for at least one night; I guess it's my stubborn/rebellious side again. We even bought the air mattress on Saturday night and I didn't use it. I didn't want to think I was too spoiled to sleep on the floor. :D It's silly, I know. But I am pretty excited about the air mattress tonight. Oh, and Kent claims he'd really rather sleep on the floor because an air matress jiggles too much. So we got a mattress for me, which also doubles as a couch during the day while we watch conference (which was INCREDIBLE this time! It's neat to see how President Monson seems different--you can tell that the Lord is giving him the power he needs to presdide over this church).

Je t'aime

We finally got around to developing our disposable camera we bought in France. The pictures turned out surprisingly good, at least for a disposable. I was so bummed that we even had to buy a camera because our luggage was lost for so long, but I'm glad we decided to so we could get these pictures!

This is on the famous Ferris Wheel, with a great sunset and the Eiffel Tower behind us.

Crepes!!

Today is Thursday...

...all day long, so Thursday here's to you a song, to make my day a brighter one and send me home so happy!

I learned that song in fifth grade--you use it for each day of the week. It's pretty catchy, and I think I'll probably remember it forever. Sorry future kids! :D

Anyway, this week has been SO busy. Finals week. But, things are getting done and I'm so excited to leave in a week and a half!! I can't wait for this week to finish. We actually still have one week of school left, but all of my papers and projects are due tomorrow, so once I get past today and tomorrow, it's going to be a piece of cake from there on out. Then I'll have a week to pack, move our stuff to our storage unit, and decide just how much we'll need for Texas and see if we can fit all of that into our car. That's going to be an adventure in and of itself.

So, once we finish all of that, it's off to LOGAN, then FRANCE, then CALIFORNIA, and then SAN ANTONIO. Woo hoo! I'm going to see more of the world this summer than I've seen my entire life. We're going to need to get a CD player for our car.
